Celebrating 25 Years of Transforming Homes in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Beyond

This month marks a momentous occasion for Richmond Home Improvement – our 25th anniversary! For a quarter of a century, we have been proudly serving the Dorset, New Forest, Hampshire, and Wiltshire areas as the leading provider of PVC-U/UPVC, and aluminium replacement double glazing windows and doors, alongside offering conservatories, porches, fascias, soffits, guttering, and a wide range of repair services.

Since our inception in January 1999, our mission has always been to raise the standards of service and customer care in the double glazing industry. We recognised the need for a local company that not only offers high-quality products but also prioritises exceptional customer satisfaction. We are proud to say that we have achieved both of these goals over the past 25 years.

Reflecting on the Past and Looking to the Future

25 years is a long time, especially in an industry full of changing trends and technological innovation. We sat down with Richmond Home Improvement founder and owner Allan Tofield to discuss the company’s previous 25 years and look ahead to what the future holds.

What was the spark that inspired you to launch Richmond Home Improvement 25 years ago?

I saw an opportunity to provide a customer service focused business, having worked for others and seeing missed opportunities due to lack of initiative and fully understanding the customer’s exact requirements.

Looking back to the early days of Richmond Home Improvement, in comparison to the current day have there been any significant changes within the industry?

Yes, many! Building regulations, energy efficiency, health & safety, employment law, waste disposal. All have increased regulations!

Are there any particular trends or styles in home improvement that have stood the test of time, and why do you think they continue to be popular?

The anthracite grey trend has been popular for many years now and remains so. However, it doesn't always work on some properties. Then again, the customer is always right!

Can you share some insights into the company's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, and how these values have contributed to its longevity?

To this day, we still receive enquiries from previous customers, or indeed friends of customers that have been recommended to call us!

What were some of the most significant technological advancements that impacted your business?

Obviously nowadays 99%+ of customers use email, whereas 25 years ago we spent a lot on postage.

What are your predictions for the future of the home improvement industry in the next 5-10 years?

People will most likely still want to improve or maintain their homes, so I don't see it changing. Ever more regulation could impact the industry further, especially waste disposal, but we are always prepared to adapt to any changes.

Sustainability and eco-friendly practices are becoming increasingly important. How has your approach to these concepts changed over time?

We try to do our bit, using local suppliers where we can. That has always been our ethos though, so no change there! We are committed to supporting the local economy and encourage others to do the same.

Are there any memorable projects or milestones that have played a crucial role in shaping the identity of Richmond Home Improvement?

We have been able to complete works on some prominent buildings for clients over the years and I think this has served our reputation well.

As Richmond Home Improvement enters its next chapter, what are your biggest goals for the company?

To carry on carrying on!

Looking back on 25 years, what are you most proud of achieving with Richmond Home Improvement?

25 years of success, with hopefully many more to go!

25 Years of Home Improvement Excellence

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to our customers, staff and suppliers. Without whose continued support, this milestone would not have been possible. Each project we undertake has contributed to the success and growth of Richmond Home Improvement. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and contribute to the improvement of so many homes and business premises in the area, and we’re committed to continuing to exceed expectations in the future.

Here's to 25 years of success and many more to come!
